Crest “Hi-Tech Fan” Ceiling Fan

Model: 04-821 "Hi-Tech Fan"
This is a 52" Crest ceiling fan in a Green finish, shown with a matching set of Green finish blades and the original light kit that was included with the fan. This fan features your standard 3-speed pull chain operation, reversible motor, and the ability to utilize a downrod or mount flush to the ceiling. The model number is 04-821 and this fan was manufactured in 1991.
In the 1980's, Crest ceiling fans were everywhere. This brand was seemingly sold at nearly every hardware store in the 80's/early 90's and was a popular choice for many consumers due to their basic styling, accessibility, and price point. Crest was a brand that tended to not use conventional model names for most of their models which makes it hard to pin a specific name to the fan you see here. Early on, their models were defined by numerical series such as the "2000 Series" or "4500 Series". The fact that this fan is new in the box and doesn't provide that clarity is an example of that. Do you call it the "Duomount Style with Light Kit", or "Hi-Tech Fan"? Or maybe just refer to it by the model number? Both names appear on the box however it's not very clear. What is clear is that this model was Crest's venture into the niche of pastel finishes which had a brief surge in market popularity during the late 80's/early 90's. Unfortunately it's hard to capture the true finish of this fan on camera, this Green finish is more of a prominent "Mint Green" in person. According to the box, this model was also offered in Blue, Pink, Peach, and White; all of which I assume were in the same pastel vein as the Green finish shown - aside from White.
All in all this is a decent, but fairly basic fan that performs okay. The metal components are your standard stamped metal but at least the blades appear to be solid wood. Aside from a little wobble on the higher speeds and minor motor hum, the fan runs perfectly fine. Overall this fan serves as a cool example of the pastel finishes that had a brief moment of popularity when this fan was sold.

Seems to be more of these than Barolos, Wildernesses, or Marrakeshes 😂 I guess collectors choose not to get the fans listed above?
Those fans above were definitely mass produced in higher numbers but had a very niche style which is why they don’t seem to be as common.
Cain blades on any fan increases the fan design by a lot.

We just bought an older home with two of these fans. We replaced one with a more modern fan with a light. How much do you think we could get for the 1886 limited edition fan?
@@GeorgiaPeach0521 It’s hard to say without knowing the demand on the secondary market, could be worth potentially a few hundred dollars if you found the right buyer. Ebay would be your best bet for finding a buyer.
@ thank you for your input - I saw one on eBay for over $700 which I thought was a little crazy! Maybe that includes shipping - the fan is HEAVY!

ive had many of these, (5 brass, 1 verde, 1 black, 1 iron and 1 sandstone) never one with the crate though! great score. i only have 3 currently in my collection, the black, verde and iron. only wooden crate i have is an American made archive original.
I would honestly love to have one of those 1886 series fans especially in verde iron etc

These are nice fans, although I'm partial to the Original line especially the transitional era models (from right before the time they started to actually be called "The Original" such as the 22046 and late-era R-52). That catalog is neat, too. There are a few models I'd never heard of in there, although the low profile version of "The Colonial Collection" looks like what they called "The Brentwood" in my mid-90's catalogs.

The Pullchain sequences : - Fan and Light - Light Only - Fan Only - Off For me, the speed sequences remind me a VF&M's 36" Toastmaster that also using the same Pullchain sequences. I never know that if Casablanca had this variant of this pullchain sequences, because we often see other Casablanca ceiling fan videos, the pull chain sequences are : Fan Only, Light Only, Both Fan and Light, then Off.
I didn’t notice that but yeah, that’s a different sequence from my other Slumber Quiet fans.

For me it wasn't just the blades but aligning the top plate to screw in are a gripe but when its up fully, its a spectacle. Mine too got updated with w32 as its an 89 model in its original installation. Runs a dream wherever I have hung it!
